DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves receiving, checking, storing and delivering institutional supplies. The incumbent performs routine work in the operation of a storeroom stocking miscellaneous supplies and equipment for a department or institution. The position involves the performance of routine tasks with limited independent judgment. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a more senior professional, administrative or technical employee. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Good knowledge of methods of receiving, storing, maintaining and issuing supplies and equipment; working knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; ability to maintain simple stock records; ability to
make routine arithmetic computations; ability to operate a lift truck; ability to understand and follow routine oral and written instructions; industry and dependability; physical strength and stamina; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess one of the following, either
(A) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of an equivalency diploma; OR
(B) Completion of two (2) years of high school supplemented by one (1) year of satisfactory experience as a stores clerk or in a related position.
(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
