Salary Range: $86,582.08 - $96,008.64

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:           

The work involves the performance of professional legal work of a limited nature in the Water Authority’s Legal Counsel Office. The work entails assisting the Attorney and his staff in doing legal research and writing. The Attorney and Associate Attorneys exercise general and direct supervision over the work of this position. No supervision is exercised by this position. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Gathers material and prepares legal documents for the Attorneys;
  • Conducts investigations, performs legal research and prepares briefs and memoranda of Law;
  • Assists in the preparation of legal documents, such as contracts, easements and right-of-way;
  • Assists in the preparations of pleading, motion papers, briefs, memoranda and drafts other legal documents;
  • Renders legal opinions and gives legal advice to the department heads and appointed officials.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Thorough knowledge of Constitutional Law, Municipal Law and C.P.I.R.; ability to present clearly and logically arguments of law by written and/or spoken word; ability to comprehend and carry out complex oral and written instructions; sound professional judgment; initiative; tact; resourcefulness; industry; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATICNS:

Graduation from a recognized Law school.
