ECWA Completes $2 Million in New Water Mains in Amherst and Cheektowaga

Posted December 14, 2021

The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) has completed the replacement of approximately 6,500 linear feet of existing 8-inch water mains with new 12-inch diameter water mains on Kensington Avenue and Smallwood Drive in the town of Amherst and Linden Street and Vern Lane in the town of Cheektowaga.

The new water mains will improve service delivery, fire protection, and provide more reliable service for customers in these sections of each town.

The $2 million infrastructure investment project was funded through the ECWA’s 2021 budget, which included $55.2 million for system-wide infrastructure upgrades. The 2021 infrastructure upgrades are part of ECWA’s overall $317 million five-year infrastructure investment plan.
