ECWA Completes $2.6 Million Installation of New Water Mains in Cheektowaga
Posted November 3, 2021
The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) has completed the installation of 8,000 linear feet of new water mains on George Urban Boulevard between Cherokee Drive and Union Road and Harlem Road to Wheaton Drive in the Town of Cheektowaga. The new 12-inch mains replaced existing 6-inch water mains.
The new, larger diameter water mains will improve service delivery, fire protection, and provide more reliable service for customers. In addition to new water mains, the project also included the restoration of impacted driveways, sidewalks, and lawn areas.
This $2.6 million infrastructure investment project is funded through the ECWA’s 2021 budget, which included $55.2 million for system-wide infrastructure upgrades. The 2021 infrastructure upgrades are part of ECWA’s overall $317 million five-year infrastructure investment plan.
