BUFFALO, NEW YORK - The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) announced that John Mye III has been named its new executive director effective February 4. Mye was most recently chief financial officer and vice president at Ecology and Environment Inc., a global engineering firm headquartered in Lancaster, where he oversaw the company.s financial and administrative functions. As a publicly traded company, he worked very closely with its board of directors and was responsible for all financial reporting requirements of regulatory agencies.

"We are very pleased to have Mr. Mye as our new executive director," said ECWA Chairman Jerome Schad.
"There were several highly qualified candidates that applied for the job from as far away as Florida, but Mr. Mye's extensive qualifications, private sector experience and knowledge of ECWA and its operations made him the right person for the job."

As executive director, Mye will be responsible for the overall management of ECWA's operations, strategic and financial planning and will report directly to the board of commissioners.

"I'm honored to be named ECWA's executive director and bring my 25 years of private sector experience as a professional engineer and financial executive to the organization," said Mye. "I believe my hiring is a clear indication of the direction the board of commissioners wants to take ECWA, and I look forward to using my experience to help lead the organization in that direction to the benefit of ECWA employees and most importantly its customers."
