DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves supervising and participating in the maintaining of fiscal budgetary and accounting records in the Comptroller’s Office of the Water Authority. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Senior Accountant or administrative employee of higher rank, who reviews performance through conferences and reports. Supervision is exercised over subordinate staff. Does related work as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Thorough knowledge of office terminology procedures and equipment; thorough knowledge of financial and record keeping practices; thorough knowledge of business arithmetic and English; good knowledge of the techniques of budgetary preparation and control; ability to follow complex oral and written directions; ability to operate micro- computer and/or computer terminal; ability to prepare financial statements, reports and other materials from general indication as to content and form; ability to plan, coordinate, supervise and direct the work of clerical staff; a high degree of accuracy and dependability; sound judgment; tact, courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college or university with an Associate’s degree in Accounting and (2) years of business or office experience, at least one (1) year of which must have involved the maintaining of financial records and accounts; or
(B) Completion of two (2) years of study at a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) or four (4) year college or university, which included sixteen (16) semester hours in Accounting, and two (2) years of business or office experience, at least one (1) year of which must have involved the maintaining of financial records and accounts; or
(C) Graduation from high school and four (4) years of business or office experience, at least one (1) year of which must have involved the maintaining of financial records and accounts; or
(D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C)
