As an attorney, she has gained expertise in all aspects of law dealing with the powers, procedures, and operations of federal, state, local and tribal governments, as well as public authorities, and other public boards and bodies. She has represented the City of Buffalo, the Buffalo Civil Service Commission, the Buffalo Board of Education, the Buffalo Sewer Authority, the Buffalo Housing Authority, the Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency, the Village of Sloan, the Town of Amherst, the County of Erie and several sovereign Indian nations. She is also a former Buffalo City Court Judge.
She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. She has briefed and argued appeals before the New York Court of Appeals, the Maine Supreme Court, the Idaho Supreme Court and numerous intermediate appellate courts, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the Oregon Court of Appeals, and the State Supreme Court Appellate Division for the Third and Fourth Judicial Departments.
Ms. Murphy holds a J.D. from the University of Dayton, School of Law and a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
